How Long Do Alcon Contacts Last?
Alcon produces a wide variety of contact lenses, the lifespan of your lenses depends entirely on the specific product line you are prescribed:
- Daily Lenses – Brands like DAILIES TOTAL1, PRECISION1, and DAILIES AquaComfort Plus are designed for single-day use. You wear a fresh pair each morning and throw them away at night.
- Monthly Lenses – Brands like TOTAL30 and the AIR OPTIX family are designed to be worn for up to 30 days. These must be removed nightly, cleaned, and stored in contact lens solution before being reused the next day.
Can You Sleep In Alcon Contacts?
For the vast majority of Alcon lenses (including the DAILIES, PRECISION1, and TOTAL30 lines), the answer is no. They are strictly approved for daily wear, and sleeping in them increases the risk of oxygen deprivation, severe eye infections, and corneal ulcers.
However, Alcon does manufacture one notable exception: AIR OPTIX NIGHT & DAY AQUA. These specific lenses are highly breathable and FDA-approved for up to 30 nights of continuous wear, meaning you can sleep in them if approved by your eye care professional. Always consult your optometrist before sleeping in any contact lens.
