About Bifocal Lenses Contacts

Which Contacts Treat Presbyopia?

Presbyopia is an eye condition that affects almost everyone as they age. Around age 40, people start to notice blurry vision when they look at things close up. This happens even if you had perfect vision all your life. Over time, the lens of your eye gets stiff. This makes it hard for the lens to focus on close objects

How Do Multifocal Contact Lenses Work?

Bifocal or multifocal contacts have more than one correction in the lens. This lets you see clearly at different distances. Because of this, these lenses need to stay stable on your eye. They have special features to keep them in place. This ensures your vision stays consistent.

Do not worry about comfort. These lenses have many features to keep your eyes happy. Each brand has its own benefits, like materials that lock in moisture and let your eyes breathe.

Best Multifocal Contact Lenses for Presbyopia in 2026

1. AIR OPTIX plus HydraGlyde Multifocal

These lenses feature the Unique Precision Profile design. This works with your eyes to give you clear vision at all distances. The HydraGlyde Moisture Matrix keeps the lens surface wet throughout the day.

2. Biofinity Multifocal

Biofinity lenses use Aquaform Technology to lock in moisture. They give you all-day comfort. They also have multiple correction zones to make sure your vision is sharp.

3. Bausch + Lomb ULTRA for Presbyopia

These lenses use the 3-Zone Progressive Design. This gives you clear near, intermediate, and distance vision. They also use MoistureSeal Technology to help prevent dryness after long hours.

4. 1-DAY ACUVUE MOIST Multifocal

These daily lenses combine multiple prescriptions into one lens. They use LACREON Technology for long-lasting moisture. They also have built-in UV protection.

5. DAILIES TOTAL1 Multifocal

These lenses use Water Gradient Technology. The surface is nearly 100% water, so they feel gentle on your eye. They deliver exceptional comfort and clarity.

6. MyDay Daily Disposable Multifocal

MyDay lenses use the Binocular Progressive System. This helps your eyes work together for clear vision at all distances. They are breathable and easy to handle.

Advantages of Multifocal Contact Lenses

Multifocal contact lenses have many benefits for people with presbyopia:

  • Multiple Wearing Options – You can choose daily, weekly, or monthly lenses. Pick the one that fits your lifestyle. Dailies are great for hygiene. Monthlies cost less for regular wearers.
  • Seamless Vision – Unlike old lenses, these correct both near and far vision at the same time.
  • No Glasses – You get clear vision without carrying multiple pairs of glasses. This is great for active people or sports.
  • Comfort – Modern lenses use advanced materials. They hold moisture and let your eyes breathe. This prevents dryness during long days.
  • Better Look – You can go glasses-free. This is perfect for special events or outdoor fun.

Is There a Trick to Wearing Multifocal Contacts?

The main "trick" is patience. Your brain needs time to get used to the different power zones in the lens. It creates a new way of seeing. This usually takes about a week or two.

Here are a few tips to help you adjust:

  1. Wear them consistently - Try to wear them every day. This helps your brain learn faster.
  2. Good lighting - Use bright light when you read. This helps your eyes focus on small print.
  3. Avoid your old glasses - Try not to switch back to your old glasses during the first week. This can confuse your eyes.
  4. Head position - When you read, hold the book or phone down and look down with your eyes. Keep your chin up.

Dalies Rule

I have experienced dailies for the first time and will not go back to the conventional lenses. No cleaning or cleaning supplies and always comfortable. At the end of the day I forget that I have them on. Great product!

Dailies AquaComfort Plus Multifocal

Dailies are the WAY TO GO!

I like that these are use and throw - less chance of infections or disease transmission. I never buy saline solution anymore, where I use to spend quite a bit on that in year when using the monthly contact. They are worth the extra cost IMO.
